WPSA Conservation Group Grants
The Council of the Wildlife Preservation Society carefully considers all requests for grants from Conservation Groups and places special emphasis on wildlife and the preservation of wildlife habitat.
2003 Conservation Group Grants
Donation for research on quolls
A number of wildlife research grants were awarded in 2003. Al Glenn, a PhD student at the University of Sydney, received a grant to study the effects of fox predation on native quoll. There is an urgent need to learn more about the status and long term survival of our native quoll and this research work is part of a wider research program to protect the species from predation by foxes and wild dogs. 2002 Conservation Group Grants
Donation to National Parks and Wildlife Foundation for land purchase
The Wildlife Preservation Society of Australia presented the President of the National Parks and Wildlife Foundation with a cheque for the conservation of a large parcel of land in Green Valley, the home of many protected species.
2001 Conservation Group Grants
Donation to Australian Wildlife Conservancy to study Gouldian finches
In December 2001, the Wildlife Preservation Society of Australia made a presentation to the Australian Wildlife Conservancy to study the rare and beautiful Gouldian finches in the Kimberley at Mornington Station. This Station was recently purchased and donated to the Conservancy to protect all wildlife in the region but in particular the habitat for Gouldian finches.
